Eye magazine hosts its first Type Tuesday of the year which will be all about books and book design. We will be joined by two amazing speakers - Luca Pitoni and Astrid Stavro.

Based in Milan, Luca Pitoni is co-founder of the Italian editorial design studio Tomo Tomo. The studio redesigned the daily financial newspaper ‘Il Sole 24 Ore’ and works with book publishers including Mondadori and the Touring Club Italiano. His recent book about the book design legend Anita Klinz (1923-2013), who he describes as “the first Italian art director”, is about to be published in an english edition by Thames and Hudson.

Astrid Stavro is a globally recognised creative director with over two decades of leadership in design. She runs her own London-based studio, working with a wide range of brands and institutions in the cultural and commercial sectors. Her approach is strongly rooted in concepts and meticulous craft to create meaningful and emotionally engaging work. Astrid is a former Pentagram partner and co-founder of design consultancy Atlas. Her work has been widely published and recognised with over 200 international awards. She regularly judges international design competitions and delivers lectures worldwide. Astrid is a Visiting Lecturer at the Royal College of Art, where she co-runs an editorial design course with Adrian Shaughnessy. She is the President of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) and a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).

The evening concludes with a panel discussion including Astrid, Luca and members of the Eye team.

There will be a bar and a stall at which you can buy bargain back issues of Eye plus the latest edition – Eye 105.
