Lunchtime Concerts at the Bridewell Theatre
Join us for the forty five minute Lunchtime Recital Series by Atelier Aukoko at The Bridewell Theatre.
The first in the series is Curated by countertenor Otis Cameron Carr, the recital will feature works by Berlioz, Handel, Purcell, and Britten, with piano accompaniment by pianist and répétiteur, Michael Rose.
Otis Cameron Carr
Otis is a graduate of the Central School of Ballet after attending the Northern School of Contemporary
Dance. Initially trained in Music at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology he moved to the
dance strand to study for A Levels and BTEC National Diploma in addition to training as a Ballet Black
associate.
Otis is a 2013 Finzi Scholar commencing intense study in Countertenor voice. Training with Michael Harper, Tim Travers-Brown, Yshani Perinpanayagam and Mark Austin.
Currently existing as a multidisciplinary artist, Otis has most recently performing with Uchenna Ngwe and Dorian Ford for Revolution in support of Collage Voices. Previous engagements include Ace Dance and Music, Rambert Dance Company, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake National and international tours, Cie 7273 (Geneva) as well as Turandot at the Royal Opera house and Tokyo tour 2024. Working with Barry Kosky and Otto Pichler resulted in creating both the Glyndebourne Opera’s Production of Saul and Royal Opera House production of The Nose with Saul going on to be presented as part of the Adelaide Festival 2017. Otis has presented work as part of the Rambert season of new choreography at the Place Theatre 2011, has choreographed for Moveo Dance Company (Malta) 2022, The Royal Ballet Draft Works 2023, Trinity Laban’s BA1 performance project and was one of three choreographers chosen to participate in the McNicoll Ballet collective’s Composition and Configurations residency 2024.
Michael Rose
Michael Rose is a versatile British pianist and répétiteur, a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and
Drama’s répétiteur course, following a First-Class degree in Piano Performance from the Royal Birmingham
Conservatoire, where he studied with Mikhail Kazakevich. He has cultivated a deep passion for opera,
working extensively as a répétiteur, assistant conductor, and music director across the UK. Operatic credits
include Banished, Coraline, Les Arts Florissants, Albert Herring (RBC); Dead Man Walking, A Star Next to the
Moon, Alcina, Savitri, Opera Makers, (GSMD); Trouble in Tahiti, A Hand of Bridge (Cumbria Opera); The
Decision, Woman.life.song, New Year (Birmingham Opera); The Quest (LYO).
Michael also takes interest in the art song repertoire, having received the 2022 Edwards Brooks English Song Accompanist Prize and having performed in lunchtime song recitals at the Royal Opera House, St Martin in the Fields and Lamport Hall. Alongside this, he has performed in a recital as part of the Oxford Lieder 2022 festival whilst also participating as a Young Artist within the Leeds Lieder 2022 festival, both engagements alongside Hannah Morley. Here, he performed in the Howard Assembly Room and in masterclasses led by Joan Rodgers and Amanda Roocroft. Michael enjoys participating in a variety of musical projects and areas but finds a unique feeling of fulfilment teaching students of all ages, enthusiastic to share his passion and love for music which he does primarily at Greenwich Music School.
