Simon Burder - Stone Lithography
Simon works primarily from the landscape using stone lithography, a form of printmaking that enables direct drawing on and printing from the surface of a limestone block. Often working from the same location, he develops panoramic or series of prints that frequently explore themes of journeying. His current project is a study of a stretch of road near his studio at Oaks Park, building a film-like sequence of images, and evoking the changing light and weather remembered from different journeys along the same route.

Simon studied Fine Art at Exeter College of Art and lithography at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.

At his Oaks Park studio he offers courses and collaborative opportunities in lithography, enabling artists to discover the magic of printing from stones.

His prints have been shown in many exhibitions, recently including the Ironbridge Fine Arts Printmaking Competition, Watts Contemporary Gallery, Compton, Printmakers Council Diamond Anniversary Exhibition at Footprint Gallery, Ironbridge, Bankside Gallery, London, and last year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
